Common Questions

HVAC Questions, Answered.

From Cypress and Katy homeowners. Answered plainly.

How fast can you come out?

Same-day when our schedule allows, otherwise the next available window. Call (832) 558-8539 and we'll give you an honest answer on timing on the call.

Do you offer 24/7 emergency service?

We respond to urgent calls as fast as we can during business hours, typically same-day when our schedule allows. We don't promise round-the-clock service we can't keep. When you call, we'll tell you when we can be there.

Why does my house feel humid even when the AC is running?

The AC removes humidity only when it's running long enough to do so. On mild days in Houston (spring and fall), the system barely runs and humidity climbs. A whole-house dehumidifier helps maintain a healthy humidity range. We measure relative humidity on every indoor air quality assessment.

What is an indoor air quality assessment?

A scoped evaluation of airflow, filtration, and humidity in your home. We measure what's actually happening -- humidity reading, filter condition, coil and drain-line condition, system airflow -- and walk you through what supports cleaner indoor air. The assessment is an $89 service.

Do you finance new systems?

Yes. Optimus is our financing partner. Pre-qualification is a soft credit pull that takes about a minute to fill out, and your result is instant. The full application happens at the in-home estimate, once you know the system cost. Approval, plans, and rates depend on your credit profile and are determined by Optimus.

What does the 45-Point Tune-Up include?

A hands-on cooling check: refrigerant pressures, airflow, drain line, electrical components, capacitor condition, and roughly forty other measurements, with a written report when we leave. It's also the easiest way to see how we work before deciding on a membership. $169.

How long should an AC last in Houston?

Twelve to fifteen years with consistent maintenance. Eight to ten without it. Variables include install quality, refrigerant type, coil and drain-line care, and whether small issues got caught before they became big ones. The Home Protection Plan exists for that last variable.

What makes The General Heating & Air different?

Two things, structurally. A licensed HVAC contractor who's also a U.S. Air Force veteran built around documented, measurement-driven work, and a board-certified physician co-founder who applies a medical-clarity lens to indoor air. Plain language. No pressure. No surprise itemization.

What payment methods do you accept?

Zelle, ACH transfer, check, credit card, and Optimus financing for system replacements.

Do you offer a tune-up for both heating and cooling?

The 45-Point Tune-Up is our cooling-season service. Heating evaluations happen as part of the fall Precision Maintenance Visit included in the Home Protection Plan.

What is the Home Protection Plan?

An annual maintenance membership with two Precision Maintenance Visits (spring and fall), priority scheduling, repair discounts, a labor warranty on covered repairs, and an accruing replacement credit. $299.40 per year, $220 for medical and military.

Is The General a licensed HVAC company?

Yes. Ade Sampson is the licensed contractor of record. Texas Lic. TACLA153612E.

What areas do you serve?

Cypress (including Bridgeland and Towne Lake), Katy, and the surrounding Northwest Houston area.
